Integrin ß3 (CD61; GPllla) Antibody

Integrins are heterodimeric cell surface receptors composed of a and ß subunits, which mediate cell-cell and cell-extracellular matrix attachments. Aberrant integrin expression has been found in many epithelial tumors. Changes in integrin expression have been shown to be important for the growth and early metastatic capacity of melanoma cells. Integrin ß3 is expressed in osteoclasts, megacaryocytes and platelets. MHF4 may be used to identify osteoclasts in tissue sections and bone cell suspensions. The MHF4 epitope is different to the F11 epitope.

CD18 associates with CD11a (integrin aL) to form leukocyte function-associated antigen-1 (LFA-1), CD11b (integrin aM) to form Mac-1 and CD11c (integrin aX) to form gp150/95. CD11/CD18 integrins bind various ICAMs. 24 may be used as a reporter of the activation state of CD11/CD18 receptors, which are activated following exposure to Mg2+ or Mn2+.

The siglecs are a family of membrane bound lectins (of the immunoglobulin superfamily) that bind sialic acid and mediate cell-cell interactions. Family members include sialoadhesin, CD22 and CD33.
